While cleaning up my computer desktop, files, office space, file cabinets, desk, car, purse... well you get the picture ... I found these two photos that reminded me of two very memorable weddings of 2008.
Elizabeth and Brian were married in Duluth at Leif Erickson Park but first guests had to board this train at the Duluth Depot a few miles or so away. Since I was busy with ceremony set-up I was lucky enough to see the train pull into the park and slowly come to a stop where everyone got off and made their way to the ceremony site a few hundred yards away but very near the shores of Lake Superior. After all guests were seated, the families, wedding party and Elizabeth and Brian made their way to the ceremony. The conductors were dressed in full uniforms complete with pocket watches and waited while until the ceremony was over. Guests then boarded the train and were transported back to the Depot for dinner and dancing. Here is my absolute favorite photo of the day taken by the very talented Michelle Walker of Michelle Walker Photography in San Francisco.
This next photo was taken in July when my fabulous team of assistants helped make Joan and John's wedding an affair to remember. Theirs was a three day five event wedding starting with a rocking Welcome to Minnesota party at Windows on Minnesota in the IDS Center. Ace High Casino and Casablanca entertained the guests through out the night and my staff helped guide, direct, sign-in and assist in every way possible.
Throughout the weekend two large luxury tour buses picked up guests from the various hotels and shuttled them to each event and every step of the way my team was there to make sure no one was left behind. Saturday morning guests were treated to a riverboat cruise on the Betsey Northrup riverboat where they enjoyed good food, fabulous scenery and a wonderful Minnesota summer day. Later that afternoon guests joined Joan and John in their backyard for an intimate ceremony and then off to the reception at St. Anthony Main Event Center where Three Sons Signature Cuisine satisfied every possible tastebud with six different food stations and a colorful martini luge.
Guests danced the night away to what I call RFactor {squared} there were so many band members, the stage was almost larger than the dance floor. Several guests had a little music in their soul so joined the pros on stage.
The final event was a fond farewell brunch at the Sofitel. It was hard to see the festivities come to an end because I felt we made many new friends and now had to say goodbye.
This photo was taken during some quiet time at the reception. My team wanted a picture in front of the antique Rolls Royce which ushered Joan and John from the ceremony to the reception and home again in the wee hours of the morning.
Thanks team for a job very well done. I look forward to working with you in 2009. {Team members from left to right are Amy, Casey, Marla, Mai Lor, Anna, Tracy & Alissa} Sadly, Amanda was heading home by this time since she lives practically in Canada.
